Details

Aterix is a biological fungicide formulated with Trichoderma afroharzianum (Th2RI99), a proven biocontrol microorganism widely recognized for its ability to suppress a broad spectrum of foliar pathogens. Applied directly to the crop canopy, it helps reduce disease pressure through natural biological mechanisms that limit pathogen establishment, growth, and spread.

In addition to its protective effects, Aterix contributes to overall plant health by promoting a more balanced crop environment and supporting plant resilience under disease pressure. Its biological nature makes it a valuable tool within integrated disease management programs, helping growers protect yield potential while advancing more sustainable and environmentally responsible production practices.

Mode of action

Competition

Following foliar application, Aterix rapidly colonizes the plant surface, competing with pathogenic fungi for space and nutrients. This biological occupation reduces the ability of pathogens to establish and proliferate on plant tissues.

Mycoparasitism

Aterix directly attacks susceptible pathogens by growing around and penetrating their structures. Through the secretion of lytic enzymes such as chitinases and β-1,3-glucanases, it degrades pathogen cell walls, suppressing growth and causing the death of the target fungus.

Antibiosis

Aterix produces a diverse range of volatile and non-volatile antimicrobial metabolites that inhibit the development of pathogenic fungi. These naturally occurring compounds help reduce disease pressure and limit pathogen spread within the crop canopy.

Induction of Plant Defenses

Aterix stimulates the plant's physiological and biochemical defense pathways, triggering Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR). This enhanced defensive state enables the plant to respond more rapidly and effectively to pathogen attacks, contributing to improved crop health and disease tolerance throughout the season.

RIZODERMA® is a biological fungicide for seed treatment based on Trichoderma spp., a highly effective biocontrol microorganism. Applied directly to the seed, it helps protect crops against key seed- and soil-borne pathogens while supporting healthy root and seedling development. Its multiple modes of action contribute to reliable disease management and extended residual efficacy.

Mode of action

Competition

RIZODERMA® rapidly colonizes the seed surface and developing root system, occupying ecological niches and consuming available nutrients before pathogens can establish. This early and aggressive colonization creates a protective barrier around the seedling during the most vulnerable stages of crop establishment.

Mycoparasitism

RIZODERMA® actively detects and recognizes pathogenic fungi in its environment. Once contact is established, it grows around the pathogen, penetrates its structures, and releases hydrolytic enzymes that degrade the pathogen's cell wall, ultimately suppressing or destroying the target organism.

Antibiosis

RIZODERMA® produces a range of natural bioactive compounds and metabolites that inhibit spore germination, pathogen development, and fungal growth. These compounds help reduce disease pressure and limit the spread of harmful microorganisms in the rhizosphere.

Plant Growth Promotion and Defense Activation

In addition to its biocontrol activity, RIZODERMA® promotes plant growth by stimulating root development, increasing root length, volume, and biomass. It also activates the plant's natural defense mechanisms, priming the crop to respond more effectively to biotic and abiotic stresses throughout the growing cycle.
